Why you prep before the tow, not at it

Things that break at events had usually been telling you for weeks. The track just finds them faster than the street does.

SIGNS IT'S TIME
  • Brake pedal that travels further than it did at the last event
  • Fluid that hasn't been changed since before the last event season
  • Belts, hoses, or coolant lines that are high-mileage and haven't been inspected
  • Fasteners under the car that nobody has checked since it was built
  • Tires that need a compound change or a condition check before they go back on
  • You're towing to an event in two days and the car hasn't been looked at since last season

Fluids, brakes, and fasteners are cheap. A DNF at an event isn't. Get it done before the tow.

What's included

Track prep covers the systems that fail most often at events — and the ones that cause the most damage when they do.

  • Brake fluid flush and pad check — High-temp fluid spec for track use. Pad life assessed and documented. Rotors checked for heat damage.
  • Cooling system check — Cap pressure test, hose condition, and coolant level at correct mix. Coolant leaks under load get caught here, not in the paddock.
  • Fluid service — Engine oil, gear oil, and diff fluid if intervals are due or conditions warrant it.
  • Torque sweep — Suspension fasteners, wheel bolts, seat and harness mounts, and anything load-bearing. This is the step most people skip and most regret.
  • Belt and hose condition — Visual and feel. Anything that looks high-mileage gets noted with a photo.
  • Tech sheet check — If your event has a tech form, we'll verify the car against it before you tow.
OUR PROCESS

Four steps, and you drive away knowing exactly where the car stands

01
Intake interview

What discipline, what events, what changed since the last time anyone looked. This decides where we look hardest.

02
On the lift

The full check with the car in the air and the wheels off. Every finding gets photographed as we go.

03
The report

A written report with photos, sorted into safety-critical, fix-before-the-event, and monitor.

04
Walkthrough

We go through it with you at the car. You decide what we fix, what you fix, and what waits.

★★★★★

"Found a cracked subframe mount two days before an event that three other shops missed. Fixed it and I still made the tow."

Common questions

How far in advance should I book?
At least a week before the event, more if repairs turn up. We need time to source parts if something is marginal or needs replacement.

Do you do track prep on cars you haven't worked on before?
Yes. Bring the car and tell us the event — we'll go through it the same way regardless of service history.

What if you find something major?
You get the finding and a quote. Nothing gets touched without your sign-off. We'll tell you honestly whether it's a safety issue or something that can wait.

Is track prep different from a pre-track safety inspection?
Yes. A safety inspection is a diagnostic document — it tells you what's there. Track prep is the service itself — fluid changes, pad swaps, and fastener torques. They're often done together.

Book it before the tow

Inspection slots fill fastest the week before local events. Tell us the event date and we'll work backwards from it.
